Patrick has more than 20 years' experience as a telecom analyst and strategist. His coverage areas at Heavy Reading include mobile backhaul networks and mobile network security. He also authors Heavy Reading's Ethernet Backhaul Market Tracker. Patrick chairs Light Reading's Mobile Network Security Strategies conference series and is co-chair of Light Reading's Backhaul Strategies for Mobile Operators conference series. Patrick joined Heavy Reading in 2005 after five years at Nortel Networks, where he was a senior manager of strategic planning for the company's wireless business – spanning GSM, CDMA, UMTS, WiMax, and other wireless technologies. Prior to Nortel, he spent two years in business research for Motorola's Corporate Strategy Office in EMEA and two years as a wireless analyst for the Yankee Group. As a journalist, he was deputy editor of Public Network Europe from 1990-1995 and editor of Mobile Communications International from 1995-1997. Patrick holds a BA in industrial relations and politics from the University of Kent at Canterbury. He is based in the UK.

Gabriel covers the mobile network system architecture, including evolution of the RAN, the mobile core, and service-layer platforms and applications. Key technologies in his coverage area include LTE Advanced, small cells, Evolved Packet Core, carrier WiFi, and software-centric networking technologies such as NFV, SDN, and service chaining. Gabriel has covered mobile networking since 1998 through published research, live events, operator surveys, and custom consulting. Prior to joining Heavy Reading, Gabriel was Chief Analyst for Light Reading Insider research service; before that, he was editor of IP Wireline and Wireless Week at London's Euromoney Institutional Investor. He is based in London.

Dan Jones has been writing about the birth and evolution of 4G technologies almost since he first joined Light Reading in 2002. Dan has covered all technology evolutions of LTE from initial launches to LTE-Advanced. He has written extensively about the technologies that will help enable better wireless services, covering everything from small cells to improved antenna technologies. Recently, he has started to look beyond 4G into some of the elements that could make up a future 5G standard for mobile communications.

Satoshi Nagata received his B.E. and M.E. degrees from Tokyo Institute of Technology in 2001 and 2003, respectively. In 2003, he joined NTT DOCOMO, working on research and development for wireless access technologies for LTE and LTE-Advanced. He has contributed to 3GPP TSG-RAN WG1 as a vice chairman during November 2011 to August 2013, and is currently chairman of 3GPP TSG-RAN WG1.

Dan Warren is a technology subject matter expert across all of the GSMA’s Project and Working Groups and key spokesperson for the GSMA. Dan currently leads the GSMA’s definition of voice-over-LTE (VoLTE) for the global industry, as well as being a lead technology expert on Rich Communications and all IMS-based projects, Embedded Mobile and Wi-Fi Roaming. Dan is a recognised industry expert on the mobile broadband market and all aspects of technical implementation, and is a regular spokesperson at conferences including Mobile World Congress, CTIA and the LTE World Series. Dan was listed in Global Telecoms Business ‘Top 40 Under 40’ for 2009, 2010 and 2012. Prior to the GSMA, Dan worked as a network architect and standards engineer at Vodafone and in standards, technical marketing and product management roles at Nortel.

Rasmus Hellberg leads Qualcomm’s corporate technical marketing team, where he focuses on the evolution of wireless in areas such as 4G and 5G, and drives Qualcomm’s visions for future technologies. Rasmus has spent more than 15 years in the wireless industry and started his wireless career in product management, working on the Japanese PDC system and the first commercial WCDMA products. He previously held various product management positions in Stockholm, Sweden and San Diego, California covering PDC, WCDMA, CDMA2000 1X and EV-DO, focusing on radio access network products.

Dr. Werner Mohr is Chair of the Board of the 5G Infrastructure PPP Association, and was also chair of the Wireless World Research Forum (WWRF) from its launch in August 2001 up to December 2003. Dr. Mohr joined Siemens AG, Mobile Network Division in Munich, Germany in 1991. He was involved in several EU-funded projects and ETSI standardization groups on UMTS and systems beyond 3G, and coordinated several EU and Eureka Celtic funded projects on 3G (FRAMES project), LTE and IMT-Advanced radio interface (WINNER I, II and WINNER+ projects), which developed the basic concepts for future radio standards. Since April 2007 he has been with Nokia Solutions and Networks (now Nokia) in Munich Germany, where he is Head of Research Alliances. In addition, he is chairperson of the NetWorld2020 European Technology Platform.

Kent Rochford serves as co-director of the Center for Advanced Communications, a collaboration between NIST and the National Telecommunications and Information Administration, both agencies of the US Department of Commerce. He was Chief of NIST's Quantum Electronics and Photonics Division, and Director of NIST's Electronics and Electrical Engineering Laboratory. Apart from NIST, Kent served as Senior Director for Sharp Laboratories of America's Material and Device Applications Laboratories, and managed systems R&D at YAFO Networks, a fiber optic communications startup.

Akshay has published articles on SDN, NFV, Cloud 2.0, CDN and emerging tech trends in the cellular world. Philipp Deibert is General Manager for the Next Generation Mobile Networks (NGMN) Alliance, an initiative founded by world-leading operators to drive and guide the development of all future mobile broadband technology enhancements with a focus on 5G. At NGMN, he is in charge of the work program management, strategy, partner management, marketing and financials. Before joining NGMN, Philipp was a Senior Associate with Booz & Co in the Communication & Technology Practice. In this position, he led multiple key assignments for major international telecom operators and vendors. His main consulting focus was in the areas of portfolio and growth strategies, transformation programs and technology strategy. Prior to that, he worked for Motorola and for German Television ZDF.

Dr. Theodore (Tod) Sizer leads teams in six worldwide locations innovating in all aspects of wireless systems, technology and software. His teams collaborate with fixed access systems, including copper and optical with special opportunities being explored at the convergence between these and wireless. Recently, he has had significant impact as a key proponent and inventor of the lightRadio and small-cell technology and systems leading to Alcatel-Lucent’s product line solution to address the current Wireless Data explosion. During his tenure at Bell Labs, Tod has performed research in wired and wireless home networking, fixed wireless loop systems, video watermarking technologies, optical computing and switching systems and high-power laser design. He was a member of the technical team in Lucent’s role as a promoter in the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG). His responsibilities in the SIG included being Chair of the Coexistence Working Group.

Dr. Ir. Michael Peeters's role requires him to make sense out of the uncertainty that exists when technological possibilities have to be balanced with business case realities. It is his team's responsibility to see beyond the spreadsheet analysis and help customers envision how emerging technologies and trends will impact the end-user community. His career spans two decades and technology disciplines. Prior to his role as CTO for the Wireless Division, he was CTO for the Wireline Division. Now a leader in the wireless industry, Michael serves on several boards, including the 4G Americas Board of Governors, IEEE Photonic Board and the ATIS Executive Board. He has authored more than 30 SCI-rated publications and more than 70 publications for international, peer-reviewed conferences and holds patents in the access and photonics domains.

He joined Juniper in 2001 and has held multiple technical sales and leadership positions in systems engineering, Advanced Technologies and Juniper’s Center of Excellence. He was appointed Mobility Architect in November 2014 and continues in this role today. Prior to joining Juniper, Murray held a number of engineering and technical sales positions at various companies, including Cisco Systems and IBM.

Håkan Andersson leads 5G strategy at Ericsson and was previously Director of Technology Strategy. He has broad international experience and has held various management positions in Singapore, Philippines and the US, including the CTO position within the AT&T account. Håkan was also responsible for defining and driving Ericsson's LTE strategy. He joined Ericsson Research in 1990 and has held various positions in product management, portfolio management as well as portfolio strategies.
